HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT BEACH TENNIS PADDLE FOR YOU!
There are 3 elements to choosing the right paddle:
Size
Paddles with a larger head offer greater force and more forgiveness with near misses because of the larger striking surface while paddles with a smaller head provide better ball control. Typically, the more advanced the player is, the smaller the paddle head they use.
Longer paddles allow for a greater range of reach but could result in less quick reaction time between forehand and backhand volleys. A shorter paddle would require less eye-hand coordination in finding the "sweet spot" when striking the ball. The "sweet spot" is the part of the impact surface that provides optimal control and power. It is located in the upper half of the paddle and is elliptical in shape.
Weight
The weight of the paddle has a substantial impact on the feel of play. Heavier paddles are generally more stable, stiffer and transfer less vibration to the player's hand. Heavier paddles offer greater power making them better suited for aggressive style of play that requires harder hits. Lighter paddles are easier to control and allow the player to swing harder. Lighter paddles also enable the player to prepare for the shot quicker making them better suited for defensive style of play. A lighter player would be easier to manipulate and cause less fatigue but a paddle that is too light for player would lessen control and power.
Recreational players typically choose lighter paddles while more advanced players tend to use medium or heavy weight paddles.
Material
Our paddles consist of 3 major materials: Fiberglass, Carbon and Kevlar. Kevlar is a heavier material, lending more weight to the paddle thus creating more precision and a greater thrust of power while fiberglass, a much lighter material, aids in ball control and reduces fatigue.
