Beach Tennis USA Wraps Up East Coast Qualifier
Beach Tennis USA® showcased some familiar faces in its penultimate event of the 2007 Beach Tennis National Tour. The BTUSA East Coast Regional Qualifier was the last chance for local athletes to qualify for the 2007 National Beach Tennis Championship, which will be held in Long Beach, New York on September 1-2.
The Men's Pro division featured some of New York’s best beach tennis players, as veteran Whitney Kraft (Pelham, NY), along with new partner Voytek Stuchilk (Queens, NY), bested Nicholas Victoir and Michael Gooding (both of Manhattan) 8-1. Kraft and Stuchilk’s win garnered them $1000 prize as well as a bid to the National Championship. For Kraft, this was his second tournament win of the 2007 National Tour, having taken home a first place trophy earlier this season in Delray Beach, FL.
In the Women's Pro Division, Elise Tamaela and Kim Kilsdork (Netherlands) fought through the rain to come out on top against two-time national champ Nadia Johnston and her new partner, Vicki Dunham (both of Long Beach, NY) 8-3. The win guarantees a spot for the Dutch women in the National Championship.
